The system utilizes a unique ID tag for each student and technology that reads the ID tag in the pickup zone of a school.
The system is designed primarily for elementary students and is being implemented in Burnet CISD for two main reasons:
- Safety- Anyone picking up an elementary student will have to have a CarRider Pro tag that is unique to that student only. Once the tag is registered to a parent or guardian, then a student will not be released to anyone that does not have an authorized tag. Unlike a sign hung in a car window, the CarRider Pro tag cannot be duplicated or falsified. Extra tags for authorized family members will be available.
- Efficiency- As cars pull into the drive of a school, the system will automatically detect each tag as it enters the pickup zone, and identifies all students linked to it in the order in which the cars are lined up. This information will be displayed on a screen in the school so that the correct students can be queued up in order and taken immediately to their vehicle. This is a significant improvement over the prior system that relied on staff members recognizing a vehicle or reading a sign created by a parent.
Parents will learn more about the CarRider Pro system during student registration, and will be able to sign up for their car tags at that time.
