The safety rope that a rock climber utilizes is called the belay rope, and the person that secures the rope is called a belayer. Before a climber climbs, she asks, “Belay On?” and the belayer will respond, “Belay On.” When a belayer responds with, “Belay On” she is saying that she’s got the rope, she will support the climber through the climb, she is going to make sure the climber is safe, and she is going to help the climber be successful.
In Burnet CISD our theme this year is, “Climbing to New Heights: Adventure Awaits”, and in all of our interactions we want to say, “Belay On” to our students, parents, teammates and community. Our job is to help students feel supported and be successful. Our mission is CRAFTING the FUTURE, and “Belay On” describes one way we are accomplishing our mission.
