The Board passed a Resolution to make this change to provide a concrete way of appreciating the hard work of the school community by returning time back to staff and allowing families to enjoy additional time together. This means the last day of the semester will now be a full day on December 17th.
Similarly, May 28th was scheduled to be an early release day for the last day of school, but will now be a full teacher work day. This will provide teachers with ample time to close out the school year and work in classrooms. The last day of school for students is now a full, regular-length day on May 27th. Graduation for Burnet High School is still planned for the evening of May 28th.
These changes are possible due to the diligence of our school community to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Burnet CISD has kept campuses open for in-person learning, and therefore reduced the need for make-up time in the school calendar, only by working together to promote the health and safety of staff and students.
