Partnering For Success

Mrs. Johnson has continued to use Second Steps as the foundation for Social Emotional Learning and Officer Raney has introduced The Good Program to the students this year. The combination of their lessons gives students strategies, opportunities to practice, and encouragement to be the best students they can be including topics such as goal setting, emotion regulation, conflict resolution, respecting ourselves and others, and effective communication. Both programs use puppets, stories, and allow students to apply strategies to real situations.

Principal Tasha Briseno commented, "At Shady Grove Elementary, we encourage students to take ownership in their learning, allow for reflection and restoration with our decisions, and learn to talk out our problems. Social Emotional Learning is very important for our young students. We love to see growth in academics and SEL here at SGE"!
