Monday, January 29 is a Teacher work day and student holiday.

Thanks to Johnson Sewell Ford in Marble Falls, Claycomb Associates, and Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, 6 employees were each awarded $100 for perfect attendance for the month of December.

Our campus spotlight this week is Shady Grove Elementary! At the end of every six weeks, all of the students and teachers at Shady Grove Elementary join together to celebrate the accomplishments of the six weeks. They start the assembly with the pledges, morning announcements, and 7 Habits chant. Then they move into "Responsible Leader" and "Habit Hero" awards!

Recognitions at the January 22 School Board Meeting included School Board Appreciation, BHS Students of the Month, and New BHS Head Coach!

At the January Board Meeting, our Shady Grove Elementary Students led the pledges to the flags.

The filing period for the School Board Election is January 17 through February 16 @ 5:00 p.m. Candidate applications are available at Central Office.

Our Campus Spotlight this week is the Quest Spanish Class! Quest students enrolled in Spanish language class are offered an interactive and fun extra credit opportunity. Students pick from five elementary bilingual story books of varying difficulty. Two times per week for one month, Mr. VanDer Stoep, Spanish teacher, works individually with students to orally practice the book they chose, and students are graded on correct pronunciation, expression, and intonation. The five students with the highest scores are chosen to read their selected story books to 1st and 2nd grade bilingual classes at Shady Grove Elementary. This event is a yearly tradition enjoyed by Quest students and Shady Grove students alike!

January is School Board Recognition Month. Please join us in showing appreciation for their dedication and hard work. They are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing our school district. Their actions and decisions affect the present and future lives of our children. They play a crucial role in CRAFTING the FUTURE in Burnet CISD.

Our Campus Spotlight this week is Bertram Elementary 2nd Grade Christmas Carolers! On Monday, December 18th, the holiday spirit echoed through the Bertram Chamber of Commerce, courtesy of second-grade students from Bertram Elementary. Approximately 20 carolers, under the guidance of Fine Arts Teacher Kirsti O'Brien, gathered to hear the festive tunes before the meeting started. The caroling served as a preview of the students' Winter Program held later in the week.
