The 100th Day of School is always a milestone for the kindergarten students at Shady Grove because they have been reading and writing for 100 days! The campus celebrates the entire day with nonstop 100th day of school activities.

The District honored the 6th group of inductees to the Burnet CISD Hall of Honor at the annual Chamber Banquet on Saturday, February 9th.

The 6th Annual BTX Join the Journey Wellness fair was a BIG success. The event was held in the BMS Auxiliary gym on Thursday, February 7th. Over 40 businesses provided services including health screenings, information on drug and alcohol abuse and recovery,wellness and support group information, and community involvement.

Shady Grove Elementary Counselor Melissa Johnson uses a social emotional learning curriculum called Second Steps. The program teaches students how to be successful learners, how to recognize feelings, how to calm down from strong emotions, and how to be a good friend.

As part of R.J. Richey’s No Place for Hate, students are examining what makes them each unique. Partnering with Mrs. Connally’s art class, every student is creating a self portrait in which they are highlighting special aspects of themselves.

On Thursday, January 17th, 8th -11th grade students were invited to BHS for Course Preview Night. Booths were set up so that students could get a first hand look at all of the courses BHS offers.

The Board and their families enjoyed a meal and fellowship before the January Board meeting in honor of School Board Recognition Month.

At the January 21 Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the District's Legislative Priorities for the 86th Legislative Session. These priorities will help guide conversations with Legislators as BCISD Board Members and Administrators advocate on behalf of Burnet CISD.

Burnet CISD is pleased to announce Rachel Jones has been named Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Burnet CISD. Jones has served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Executive Director of Secondary Learning for Red Oak ISD since 2012.
