RJ Richey staff welcoming students.

Campuses and Departments will be closed for the Christmas Holidays December 25th – January 5th. Staff will return on Monday, January 8th and students will return on Tuesday, January 9th.

Three artists from Shady Grove Elementary were recognized at the Board meeting for their winning entries in the BCISD Christmas Card Contest.

The read aloud sessions are a part of the District's literacy initiative. Reading aloud promotes language development and early literacy skills. It is widely accepted that reading aloud is the single most important researched activity leading to language development and promotes early literacy skills.

Congratulations to the Shady Grove Elementary Christmas Card Design Winners: Alex Guajardo, 1st Place; Kayla Shaw, 2nd Place and Charlie Suchomel, 3rd Place. The students were featured in the City of Burnet Christmas Parade. Click the story link to see the winning design.

On November 30, the members of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee and the Action Planning Teams met to review the final draft of the BCISD Strategic Plan by strands. The Strategic Plan is going through the final editing and formatting process in preparation of being presented to the Board of Trustees on January 22 for approval.

A new course offering at BHS this year is Mandarin Chinese. Three students from the inaugural class gave a presentation speaking of why they are taking the course, what skills they are learning, and how they plan on using the language in the future.

Three BHS Seniors have signed National Letters of Intent within the past week.

Each fall and spring, Superintendent Keith McBurnett invites the local ministers to join him in conversation over coffee and pastries.
