The BHS Cheerleaders traveled to Ft. Work this past weekend to compete in the UIL Spirit State Championship.

Led by the Burnet Middle School Interact Group, the work of staff and students has resulted in BMS being recognized once again on a national level by Sandy Hook Promise.

All Burnet CISD schools and offices will be closed Tuesday, January 16, 2018 due to inclement weather. Additionally, all BCISD activities scheduled for Tuesday, January 16th are canceled. Freezing rain, sleet and snow are anticipated in the Burnet area with significant icing possible, resulting in hazardous travel conditions. Because temperatures are projected to continue to drop into Wednesday, please continue to monitor the BCISD website at www.burnetcisd.net, the BCISD Facebook page, or tune into local news or radio stations for additional information.

January is School Board Appreciation Month and Burnet CISD is joining other districts across the state to thank these community volunteers for their commitment and contributions to our public schools.

Burnet CISD staff along with City of Burnet staff participated jointly in a workshop on the Anatomy of Cyber Attacks. Tom Ervin, an FBI cyber forensics analyst, showcased live demonstrations of multiple malware threat vectors and provide sobering examples of the ease at which attackers can compromise an organization's data.

Eight additional Inspired Classrooms were installed over the Christmas Break and unveiled to students on their first day back to class. “This project challenges our traditional ‘sit and get’ model of student learning,” said Keith McBurnett, the superintendent for Burnet CISD. “The technology and flexible furniture configurations provides new exciting ways for students to learn, increases collaboration and helps us build and strengthen other 21st Century skills.”

BCISD will start the new year off with many events planned for January.

During the December Board Meeting, Gary Davis of West, Davis & Company, LLP presented Burnet CISD's 2016-2017 Annual Financial Audit. The District received an unqualified opinion, which means there were no material issues or concerns.

The 5th Annual Join the Journey Safe and Drug Free Wellness Fair is scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2018.

Each year, Board Members are required to participate in continuing education training. At the December 18 Board Meeting, Board President Andy Feild announced that all members had met and exceeded continuing education requirements.
