BHS Assistant Principal Kristi Carruthers and BMS English Dept. Chair Kristie Messer have been appointed to positions on the SpringBoard National Faculty. With their appointments, there are now a total of 10 National Faculty members from the great state of Texas, with 3 (including BMS Math Dept. Chair Melanie Younger) from Burnet CISD.

As spring starts, it is hoped that the memory of what was seen in the Burnet High School parking lot on Thursday remains fresh in students' minds for years to come. It was a one-day mock drill, complete with a simulated drunken driving accident, death, rescue, and memorial service on Friday for the victims.

Seniors Cody Moore, Reagan Giesenschlag, and Colin McBurnett were recognized as BHS Students of the Month at February's Board meeting. Read about these three young adults and more information from the meeting.

Each year, the Texas School Public Relations Associations (TSPRA) honors individuals, school districts, education foundations and others for their outstanding contributions in school communications. At the annual TSPRA conference, Sharon Schwartz received a Gold Star and Best of Category award for each of her two entries.

The Hill Country SMART Smiles Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, March 4th at the Delaware Springs Golf Course.

Each year Burnet CISD campuses select their Campus Educator of the Year. It is from this esteemed group that the District Educator of the Year is then selected and honored at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

The fourth group of honorees were inducted to the BCISD Hall of Honor at the Burnet Chamber of Commerce Banquet this past Saturday night.  Superintendent Keith McBurnett introduced each of the honorees as the BCISD Board of Trustees presented the awards.

Community members of all ages attended the 4th Annual Join the Journey Safe and Drug Free Wellness Fair on Thursday evening. Families visited approximately 35 businesses and organizations which provided health screenings, drug and alcohol education, nutritious samples, and many more activities. A free hot dog meal was provided and door prizes were announced throughout the fair. Four Fitbits and and a Bose Wireless speaker were given away at the end of the fair. Join the Journey thanks the vendors and businesses and community organizations for attending and for donating such generous prizes.
