A time to celebrate and emphasize the important role school attendance plays in ensuring our students receive quality education.

Burnet CISD once again received a perfect score of 100 and a Superior rating, the top rating possible, for the 2022-2023 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). This is each district’s “Financial Report Card” from the state. The purpose of the FIRST rating is to ensure that school districts and open-enrollment charter schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and achieve improved performance in the management of their financial resources. The Administration will provide an overview of the FIRST rating at the October 16 Board Meeting.

In six different, but inter-connected actions, the Burnet CISD Board of Trustees approved a $42.2 million budget for the 2023-2024 school year, and a tax rate of $0.8742 to support the budget, which is 18.54 cents lower than the 2022-2023 tax rate. This approval represents the 8th year in a row for the Board to vote to lower the tax rate. Between 2015 and 2023, the Board of Trustees has lowered the tax rate by over 39 cents, resulting in the lowest tax rate in the District's history, and also ranking Burnet CISD as the second-lowest tax rate among area school districts.

The theme for BCISD this year is Finish Strong which was officially announced at the 2023 BCISD Convocation. In BCISD, we know that to Finish Strong, we have to Start Strong and Stay Strong! We are optimizing for the start line of the new school year and focusing on actions that get results. We are committed to being tough and putting forth a relentless effort toward our goals. We are excited to welcome students back to school on August 16, and remain focused on our mission of crafting an inspiring future that embodies spirit, pride, and honor with each student.

Have you registered your student for the new school year? Registration for 2023-24 is open for both new and returning students. Online registration and help documents can be accessed through the “Registration” header of the District website, www.burnetcisd.net. Registration is required to have a teacher assigned, a schedule finalized, and to participate in school extracurriculars during summer prep for 2023-24. We are getting ready to roll a fantastic new year!
