BCISD campuses celebrated MLK Day by learning about the contributions and sacrifices of Martin Luther King, Jr. and by participating in service projects on their campus and around the community.

The January Board meeting was full of recognitions, which included honoring the Board members for their outstanding leadership and volunteer service to the staff and students of BCISD!

Small group time is a valuable part of the daily schedule at Shady Grove Elementary. Small group time takes place in various subjects in the classroom, in the Star Lab, and in the GT & Enrichment programs.

Emergency department nurse, Linda Dutil from Waterville, Maine, recently spoke "virtually" to BHS students about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.

Due to the ongoing impact of inclement weather on families and staff members in our community, including spotty road conditions, power outages, rolling blackouts, limited access to water, and broken water pipes, all Burnet CISD schools and offices will remain closed on Friday, February 19. All classes will resume Monday, February 22.

In order to provide teachers and staff additional planning opportunities during this unprecedented school year, the District made revisions to the school year calendar. One of those revisions included making Monday, January 18 a holiday for students and a planning day for staff.

January 2021 is School Board Recognition Month. Please join us in showing appreciation for their dedication and hard work. They are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing our school district. Their actions and decisions affect the present and future lives of our children. The Burnet CISD School Board Trustee Election will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Three places will be on the ballot this year: Place 2 – currently held by Angela Moore, Place 4 – currently held by Ross Behrens, and Place 6 – currently held by Robby Robertson. These are three-year terms.

Nominations for the 2021 Hall of Honor are being accepted through Friday, January 8, 2021. There are four categories.

Burnet CISD is proud to announce that Jennifer Stewart, current Burnet High School Curriculum and Instruction Assistant Principal, has been named Interim Principal at Burnet Middle School for the spring semester.
